How magical is Autumn! Embracing the beauty of Autumn is my absolute most favorite time of the whole year. For some though, it is a sad time, fare welling the long summer days. The beauty of quality time away from the routines and stresses of everyday life, seemingly coming to an end. I want to share with you how I embrace the fall season.
The delicious pumpkin spiced lattes, cozy sweaters, warm crackling fires, bright leaves, hayrides. The slower days of appreciating the gentle whisper of change outside and making plans for cozy spaces indoors, is pure magic. My list is ongoing when it comes to the things I love about fall.
Every season has it’s own unique joys and pleasures that we get to enjoy and embrace. Here is a beautiful poem that I love to read on the first day of September. It is by Morgan Harper Nichols.
“Let this be the September you always remember. The September you choose to except. The best thing you can do is let August fall behind you and with an open heart to embrace this new day that lies before you. This month, Remember that joy is more than just “staying positive”. Joy is a way of living. A way of looking for light in the midst of it all. Joy is transforming and contagious. Joy can be shared through action.”
5 tips for a peaceful and productive fall season
tip 1: fall cleaning
I love doing a spring cleaning at the beginning of fall time. Fall is more significate to me than even like the New Year. Cleaning and organizing and decluttering my home during this season is very important to me more than during the spring time. At the beginning of fall I want our home to feel tranquil and peaceful. And to have a simplified home before we get into all of the routine and schedules of school and the holiday season. Giving our home a little refresh will help us to embrace the fall season.
tip 2: healthy habits
Another tip that really helps me during the fall time is to focus on creating some healthy routines and habits in my life. During the darker months it is so good to have healthy exercise habits and to move our body. Having a healthy routine such as eating well will also give us peace as we enter into a new season.
tip 3: Adding a few fall elements to our home
Your home doesn’t have to look like fall just exploded in your house. Adding a couple fall décor pieces such as a soft blanket and maybe a fall pillow. A fall floral arrangement to the center of the table or a wreath to the front door. Just adding a couple elements into our home during this season will help us to feel cozy and peaceful and be able to embrace this time of year.
tip 4: Embracing the coziness
I have always loved the transition into fall since I’ve been a little girl. I am a total cozy person, I love my sweaters, blankets, coffee, and candles. It’s not just the stuff but also the feeling that fall gives me. The feel of hominess, the slow evenings and family nights in front of the fire.
But for those of you that dread this time of year and the bad weather and you hate the fall and winter and your a summer person. Embracing these things can actually help how you see the season and give you an excuse to settle in and be able to enjoy this time. We can embrace this time of year with some of the tips I mentioned above. By doing some cleaning and putting up a few decorations and getting your home prepped and ready for a peaceful autumn.
tip 5: having an attitude of gratitude
Finally, one way I really embrace the fall season and to make it the best I can is by practicing having gratitude. This is something we have to remind ourselves of and to try and not to complain and grumble and to choose to be positive and practice gratitude. Gratitude is something that needs to be practiced year around that we often forget that usually comes back to remind us in the fall. Another reason I love this time of year is because I have so many moments during the fall where I am reminded of the pleasures of life and the things that I am grateful for.
I hope this was encouraging to you. We don’t have to have a picture perfect home to be able to embrace the fall. All we need is a few elements to add to our every day life to be able to enjoy this time of year. I hope these tips will help you as we enter into this new season.
