We have been having the best time decorating our home for Christmas this past week. There’s no other time of the year like Christmas for feeling all warm and cozy. With Christmas almost here, I want to give you some simple ideas to decorate a rustic cabin style Christmas living room.
Rustic cabin stlye christmas living room
I love the down-home, old fashioned country Christmas atmosphere. Where you can curl up in a cozy blanket near the fire and sip hot chocolate with family and friends. Our living room is used most during the holiday season sitting together as a family in front of the fire. Here is what our living room is looking like this year!
A couple weeks ago I shared our rustic country style Christmas tree that stands next to our large fireplace. On our mantel I changed out the picture in the 16×20 frame for a winter picture of a moose standing in snow that I found on Esty. Next to the frame I placed a rustic moose Christmas countdown and on the other side of the frame I placed a couple candlesticks. To finish it off, I added an evergreen swag across the mantel. This year I only hung two stockings for both of our little boys. I couldn’t find any matching ones for Kyle and I.
On the bar next to the fireplace, I added in a couple red and black buffalo check deer to either side of the bar to match the ribbon on the tree.
This is probably one of my favorite places in our home that is decorated for Christmas this year. I love how it turned out. I used four different nine foot garlands and used floral wire to hang it on the banister. After I hung all the evergreen garlands I intertwined the same red and black buffalo check ribbon that I used on our Christmas tree. It is simple yet adds so much rustic country charm to our living room. On the bottom of the stairs I put my favorite little moose.
Upstairs in our loft area I added a four foot Christmas tree that can be seen from the downstairs. Our upstairs isn’t used unless we have guests for overnight so I didn’t want to add to much. I love how you can see this tree from downstairs and how the lights create a soft glow. I used a soft white cozy blanket for the tree skirt and added pinecones on the tree and kept it very simple.
Inside our front door sits a rustic cabin style vase that holds evergreen and berry stems. Above the vase there is a coat rack with a DIY wreath that I made and some more evergreen garland.
pillows and blankets
During the winter season, I love decorating with cozy, chunky blankets and pillows. This year I retired a couple of the Christmas blankets I had. They were looking old and didn’t really match the theme. Hopefully I can find some in the next couple of weeks to replace the ones I had. On the couch, I did add a black and white Christmas throw. This is the only one I ended up keeping for this year.
Snuggling up under a soft warm throw blanket is the best way to feel cozy during the cold winter months. Next to the throw I placed a red and black pillow with a deer on it.
rustic cabin style christmas accents
Scattered around the living room on the side tables I added in a few more Christmas elements. The side table next to the couch has a little white moose siting on it and a vase with more evergreen and berries.
On the small table under the staircase I placed a red and green garland and a Noel sign made from antlers on the top of the table. On the bottom shelf I added a Christmas deer silhouette sign.
Another little sign made from antlers that says Joy sits on the little wall shelf next to the hallway.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our rustic cabin style Christmas living room tour. I love the coziness of this space and enjoy sitting on the couch in the evenings with just the glow of the Christmas lights and fire. All of the Christmas décor in this post is pieces that I have had for several years and don’t have links for. I love using the same décor pieces every year and change up where I use it. It always looks different from year to year.
