SMALL BATHROOM REFRESH ON A BUDGET

Diy Projects

I have big plans to fully renovate this bathroom, but that massive project is still a ways down the road. I decided I didn’t want to wait that long with the space how it was so we decided to give this small bathroom a little refresh on a budget.

Starting back at the beginning, this space was painted a turquoise blue. The first project was painting it a more neutral color. We used Bungalow Beige by BEHR Paint. After we painted, we added a tile border around the shower with some leftover tile from our kitchen backsplash. I then decorated with a few horse themed pieces that was gifted to me. The bathroom stayed this way for a couple years until I was so ready for a refresh in this space. I knew that it wasn’t possible to do the whole renovation makeover in this room but I could do a couple DIY projects and new décor to freshen up this space.

Pine trim

This space had no trim other than around the door. We trimmed this bathroom with pine boards to go with the rest of the house. Click here to see how we installed our pine trim.

vanity Light fixture

The vanity light fixture in this space was a builder-grade fixture. I didn’t want to spend the money for a new vanity light fixture so I just flipped this light upside down and put new wire caged globes on it. This DIY light fixture cost me $18 to do. I then added a new mirror.

Open bathroom shelves

One of these days we would love to add a barn style door to these shelves. But for now I painted these shelves a matte black and organized the shelves. I used natural wood accents to match the pine trim.

On the top shelf, there is a large basket that holds a hair dryer and curling iron. The next shelf holds two wooden boxes with various items. On the third shelf is where I organized all of my hair stuff in cute little glass jars placed on a wooden tray. The bottom of this space holds a hamper. I love how these shelves turned out! It is amazing what a little bit of paint can do.

Towel Rack AND DECOR

I chose to go with a bear theme to match the rest of the house. This metal towel rack/shelf I found on LTD Commodities. It was a clearance item and they no longer sale it. The bear shower curtain clips came from Amazon and I paired them with a brown taupe shower curtain from Walmart. This large bear picture and bear hook came from Hobby Lobby. I thought everything came together nicely and gave the bathroom a new look.

I hope you enjoyed this small bathroom refresh on a budget. Sometimes all you need is a few items and DIY projects to change up a space.
