Where has time gone. Our sweet baby boy turned two on Saturday! If you know Slade, you know that he loves anything with wheels. The first toys that interested him was trucks. He loved to spin the wheels and watch them go round and round. He loves going to the races every Friday night and watching the loud and fast race cars. And overall he has a fast and furious personality! He goes hard all day long! We loved celebrating him with a Two Fast Race Car Birthday Party!
Making an easy balloon garland Diy
I kept the party décor really simple, we just had family over and it was a small birthday party. I started with making a balloon garland to hang on our dinning room wall. These balloons came in a packet with a couple banners, cake topper, and 24 cupcake toppers.
To make the garland, I first blew up all of the balloons. Then after they were all blew up, I tied two different colored balloons together. I did this until all the balloons were in sets of two.
Then I took two sets of two balloons and looped them together to make a set of four. After all of the balloons were in sets of four, I took extra thick fishing line and tied it around one set of four balloons leaving some extra line at the end to use to hang it up. I then took the next set of balloons and looped the fishing line around one of the balloons in the set of four. I just looped it around a couple times and made sure the two sets of four balloons were snug against each other.
You don’t have to tie any knots until you are completely done adding sets of balloons to your desired size. Once I was done adding my sets of four balloons, I tied a double knot around one of the balloons like I had done with the very first balloon leaving some extra line.
To hang the balloon garland I used a nail that was already in the wall and on the other side I used my flower hook in the ceiling to tie it to. If you don’t have any nails in the wall, you can use command hooks to hold the balloon garland up.
two fast banners
After the balloon garland was hung, I used tape to put up three banners under the garland. The black and white flag banner I purchased from Hobby Lobby and the other two were in the packet I purchased off of Amazon. I will have all the links at the bottom of the post.
I added a couple more small balloons to hide where I had placed the tape on the ends of the banners.
Two fast birthday cake and cupcakes
Our family is not big fans of cake so I always try to do another kind of dessert. For Slade’s two fast race car birthday party, I made a New York style cheesecake along with 24 mini cheesecakes. It was so much fun decorating this cheesecake to match the theme of the party.
I topped the mini cheesecakes with the cupcake toppers that I had received in the birthday packet from Amazon. For the big cheesecake, I crushed Oreos and Graham crackers and created a racetrack. I placed twizzles on the edge of the track. Then I placed M&Ms around the edge of the cheesecake. I used the two cake toppers from the packet and a couple of Slade’s hot wheels. I think this cheesecake turned out so cute!
My classic New York Style Cheesecake recipe will be down below if you would like to create something like this for your little one.
